Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very good machine Very powerful. Many controls, takes a while to get use to. Grip warmers work very well. Machine turns effortlessly with very tight turn ratio. Starts right up with pull start of electric. It will consume quite a bit of fuel due to a small tank on the over 12hp engine. I leaned that it is best to quickly engage the auger as a gradual release will burn up your belt. If you have a worn belt, you can find many youtube vids that will help you change it yourself. Belts are not hard to change if you are mechanically inclined, but it is very tight in one spot. I would keep a couple of belts on hand just incase. If it wasn't for the belt issue I would give 5 stars. At the end of the gay, it kicks that shovel in the rear.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Insane power, easy to use. Purchased and Spent several hours relocating frozen piles of ice on a commercial site for my Landscaping business. This machine is a beast and will literally take anything you can throw at it. We plow commercial lots, from small Strata to Large malls. I couldn’t be happier with this machine, and it can take some serious abuse without even flinching. Cleans right down to the pavement. Used in Canada, extremely wet heavy, 2 day old frozen snow piles chewed up with a little muscle to rock the machine. I wouldn’t be surprised if this thing lasts us 10 years commercially and 20+ for a home owner it’s built commercial. Don’t hesitate this is the one that does it all!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from What i wanted but cofused I bought a 3090 Vortex to replace a 30yr. old 5hps. MTD I bought the biggest baddest machine, so I could throw the snow far forward. My house sits near my driveway, and my driveway also borders my neighbor s house. Throwing the snow going back over the same spot is something I do. I expected this. The machine is incredible but I'm breaking a lot of shear pins. Not sure how I need to change my operation s with this machine. I'm confused and a little unhappy. To much engine. IDK. I'll let you know, I would like to hear from others about their experience with shear pins.,

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Outstanding product Have had a Troy-Bilt Horse Rototiller since the mid 1970’s and have had excellent results with it, so when I moved into new house and needed a snowblower, it had to be a Troy-Bilt! I bought the Vortex 3090 XP. I waited until I used it for a year so that I could give an informed review. This snowblower actually surpassed my expectations. The front auger chews its way through the heavy, frozen snow left at the end of the driveway by the Town plows. The engine handles this stuff with ease. The first time that I used it in my driveway, I looked up and saw that I was throwing the snow into the middle of my neighbors yard! An adjustment of the chute righted that issue! I live in the snow belt to the East of Lake Ontario, so we do get massive amounts of snow! In fact, as I am writing this, snow is falling quite heavily but when it stops, I will fire up “Bertha” and easily remove it! I would highly recommend this product as I would all Troy-Bilt products.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Snow blowing re-defined I like toys and change snow machines when they come out with new ideas. This machine has them all, they all work to get the job done (including a very large engine that starts with one pull, I have yet to use the electric start), and you almost forget it's supposed to be "work". The first change they added was the "power steering" which effectively gives you control over the drive wheel(s). However it also allows you to "free wheel" which changes the whole game. The snow blower could weigh 600 pounds and it is actually easier to use than a single stage because you never have to do ANY lifting. You can put it in forward or reverse, select a gear and drive it one handed in circles if you wish. The hand warmers and headlight are true conveniences that have been around for a while and really come in handy. Another add on is the small joy stick electric chute control that reacts quickly with just your thumb to put the snow EXACTLY where you want it. I say "exactly" because the latest feature, three stages", provides just that. This thing blows snow almost TWICE as far as the two stage it replaced. I believe I could put the entire contents of the driveway up on the garage roof if I wanted to. I live in Michigan, we can get serious snow, this machine is worth every penny but unfortunately sells out early.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Thrower I have ever used Let me tell you something. in the last 2 weeks it has been snowing off and on every other day. The ole cat I call her has mastered the job. From 14 inches to 3 or 5, it plows right through. The throwing distant is unreal. Have a house across the street no one live there and easily shoots there in a nice pile. The snow plow comes by and of courses we know that the ole driveway gets full again--ya know what let them come, the Cat and handle it with ease

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Overall a great machine I bought this in winter of 2016. Machine has great power but it has some faults. Due to its power, the machine will chew through it's shear pins with ease. While this saves the expense of new blades or belts, unless your on smooth pavement, be prepared to go through quite a few each time you use it. At $7.99 a pack of 4 at my local Cape Breton Canadian Tire, it can get costly as my yard is uneven and I can go through 4 or 8 each time. I also went through a throttle cable within the first week and found through the warranty center service guy, that this new three stage model was experiencing this problem everywhere, hence there was no stock available and no time frame for repairs. I ended up finding stock at a local Yamaha dealer (Babin's service center) whom ordered one and had it to me in two days. I then had to fix it myself. Another issue is if you get wet snow, it can cause the machine to plug up and squeal the drive belt and also leading to the auger control cable sticking. Dry snow though or a bit moist gets thrown 20 foot away making it still an overall great machine. Hopefully this review will result in Troy making some mods to this great unit and also send me a lifetime supply of shear pins ☺
