Rated 5 out of 5 by from Powerful! Over the past 20 years I've had many different brands, big and small, this one is like a Cadillac. Power to spare, throws snow much farther than others. The chute control lever is kind of awkward and clunky to use but not a big deal. I live on a busy street and the plow piled up a big berms of heavy snow in front of both of my driveways for my first use, It chewed through them with ease and much faster than the others I have owned. I help 2 older neighbors with their driveway and sidewalks as well. Power steering is a joy, no more muscling it around!! We will see over time how it holds up but I'm happy so far.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from the best blower yet The Vortex 2890 Snow Thrower is the best one I have owned yet. Living on the Spine of the Appalachian Mountains, west slope of Laurel Ridge to be exact, we get more than our share of snow. I was leery at first due to a review on the internet (read it after purchase but before it snowed), but it has been flawless in its performance. It doesn't even slow down at the street where the plow stacks it up, charges right through it. Throws snow farther than any other I have owned, including tractors, and does it effortlessly. Could use a faster gear in reverse, other than that a good machine

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Snow Thkrower Deserves its High Rating I live in the foothills of Colorado and get a lot of snow on my very large blacktop driveway. After wearing out my 20 year-old snow thrower, I purchased the Vortex 2890 based on its consistently high ratings. The ratings were well deserved. It is fast, easy to steer with the ability to disengage the drive to each wheel, and has no problem with the huge mound of packed snow that the road plows leave me. A portion of my drive is very steep, and while the wheels have been able to get up the incline so far, chains are probably in my future.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from TRoy's 2890 Snow Thrower I love the 2890. We had a very heavy, very wet snow shortly after I got it, and the 2890 easily threw it 30+feet! It is a beast! My only suggested improvement would be a way to lighten up on the two grips. I'm 74 and may be starting to get arthritis, so gripping the two handles for a half hour to an hour was tough for me, because they were so stiff. Although they are a safety feature, easing the pressure would have no effect on safety- ie keeping you behind the blower while it is operating. Next winter I may devise a way to use velcro straps to assist me. Al

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Vortex 2890 I just purchased the Vortex 2890 Jan 23, 2015. On Jan 27 a blizzard hit Connecticut. The snow thrower performed flawlessly. I have four driveways to clear and did all four, about four cars each including 200' of side walk with less than a tank of gas. I drop the chute down to the ground and saw pavement as the snow cleared. The 28" is a bit bulky but the steering levers make turning the machine a breeze. The machine cut through the plow piles with ease.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Love the Snow Blower I purchased Vortex 2890 for our new home that has a large 6 to 8 car driveway and paths need to different parts of our yard and barn. While, I have only had opportunity to use it twice this year, I am so far impressed with the power and overall performance of this machine. I wish we have more than a couple inches these past couple storms to really give her a test run. The 3rd stage does do as advertised. Cuts right through the plow piles at the end of the driveway like they were butter. Only issue I have is that the control stick is hard to use to turn the snow shoot left or right and find I have to stop and use two hands at times to get it to turn. I thought it might have been more electric control than manual for this, but it is not an issue for me, but may be for others. For the limited amount of use, I would recommend this for others with large areas of snow to remove.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best snowthrower I've owned this is my second snowthrower and best I've owned or used. Plenty of power, easy to steer, control speed, chutes etc. even my 13 year old granddaughter was able to use it. I have always been impressed with Troy Bilt quality and construction and this certainly lives up my expectations. we had several 12"+ snowfalls this year, and the 2890 handled them with ease.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Vortex 2890 Took Our Steep Drive with no Issues Got this snowblower in November with a concern about how it would handle our steep 300 foot driveway. Well glad to say it handled our first snow fall of 7 inches our large drive area in front of the garage and our steep hill down to the mountain road below. Two passes was sufficient to do the job. It was my first attempt to run it and it went well. There was conflicting info in the manuals about whether it came with oil in the engine or not. Fortunately I checked the level and it was up to the mark.
