Rated 5 out of 5 by from New Owner I hate buying something that I will use exactly once per year but my >30 yo previous tiller died. This was reasonably straight forward to assemble. It is heavier than my previous one but pretty standard weight for current tillers with appropriate safety covers. I put the tines on the widest setting and it performed well with no difficulty turning over reasonably packed dirt. Aside from weight it maneuvers well and is pretty easy to keep directed in a straight line. Blades are easy to free from brush. Can't comment about durability given that I only got it last month....

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Tiller I just bought this tiller today. Took it home and used it right away. I have a 25' x 40' garden I use to cultivate by hand. This tiller was up to the task of cultivating my existing garden and expanding my garden as well. Breaking new gound was a bit tough mainly because I have an extremly rocky garden. The tiller was a bit jumpy on hard ground but I was able to get the job done. At first the wheel base seems a little flimsy but after using the tiller for a while I wasn't concerned. The only improvement I would like to see at his point would be a little wider wheel base.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My Tiller I bought my Colt FT tiller in 2002. I used it to dig up irrigation valves at Bellevue Center in Bellevue Tennessee. It worked great in the hard Tennessee dirt. I try to work smarter not harder. I have used it in my garden ever since. My tiller is left outside all year long. I do have a big blue plastic bucket over the motor, so I don't have to clean the rust off the fly wheel when I want to start it. That only happened one year. Every year before I try to start it I change the oil. I dump out the old gas if any is left in the tank, put in new gas, and just a few pulls, maybe three, it starts up. This year I even lent it out to two friends so they could do there garden also. I only changed the spark plug once about four years ago. I great tiller, it really does the job. Ted Kularski

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Even cuts through clay! We absolutely LOVE our Troy-Bilt tiller! We had the worst soil-it was full of clay. I was sure this tiller wouldn't be able to cut through it, but it did. Now we have a wonderful garden full of vegetables every year! This tiller has worked so well for us that our friends and neighbors are always borrowing it. . .it's very easy to transport. it's almost never in the garage! This tiller is a high quality, durable amazing machine-which is exactly why we are a Troy-Bilt family!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great, if tilled already This is a great tiller--if you're looking to till an area that has not been previously tilled, do not get a front tined tiller. This tiller is wonderful, as tillers go, but go for the Troy-Bilt rear tined tiller if you're working on a new garden.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Purchase! My neighbor and I had one very old Sear tiller and he had a miserable MTD tiller both front tine. I look at many and the Colt was both price right and carried the Troy-Bilt name which I first learned from my grandfather. This thing will till like no other similar tiller, bury the tines at an idle and just dig. My neighbor is in his 70's and has commented in ease of use and the handle bar design which is very comfortable even for us taller guys. This thing starts every time and is easy to maneuver. My only negative comment would be the shield between engine and tines is a bit light when tilling deep, each of my corners are bent up. Overall for a front tine tiller we both would recommend the COLT!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from urban gardener went Lowes two weeks ago and bought a new tiller. looked at two other brands and went with Troy-bilt colt 340 front tin tiller. the name and the bolo tines sold me. the tiller starts on the first pull and digs and conditions the ground so much better than my old one. runs quitter and a lot less shaking easy starts easy to use what more can you ask.
