Rated 4 out of 5 by from Starts, runs great does all the things it should I didn't notice before I purchased, that the drive mechanism is controlled manually by left hand. Not by a foot control. Which I thought was a pretty standard feature. I have a rather steep hill covering my septic tank. Where my hill ends is my neighbors fence. So maneuvering my only hill can be a little difficult. Other than this one design issue, I have zero complaints. There are some plus to the motion control lever, it allows me to go as slow as I need to move around tricky obstacles. Very quickly transition from forward to reverse. Plus I don't have to keep my feet in one position, other than at the ready for a braking need. Overall I give it a 4 stars for the clumsiness of the motion control lever.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good Mower, BUT..... Lets start with the good, 1) Very good power, pulls strong, even with my 230 lb. bulk and a 100 lb. aerator hooked to the back. 2) starts right up. even after sitting for a week or so. 3) Cup Holder, just find something to cover you drink, or like the taste of grass. 4) Moves the cut grass quite a distance, good and bad. 5) Decent on gas, can mow an acre on a half tank, give or take, or with or without the aerator. Now for the bad, 1) The deck is NOT meant to have a Mulching plug attached to it. It's a flat topped deck with no where for the clippings to FLOAT. With the mulch plug and blades in place this deck slowly disgorged out big green clods, ever watched a cow disgorge?, Yep, the "Grass digorge" as I called it, would build up behind the plug and eventually force its way out and look like a disgorge on the grass. At one point it was so bad it jammed the blades and started burning the belt. On a regular basis it would stop the blades for a few seconds while the build up dropped out of the deck. I would have go back and remow numerous spots in the yard. I took the plug off and threw it away, fortunately I got the plug kit at half price on line from a CUB dealer. DO NOT put a mulch kit on this deck! 2) The seat has way too much spring under it, I'm 230 lbs. and it bounces around under me and beats the heck out of my back. I'll be modifying that over the winter, using tie wraps as tie downs. 3) I haven't done an oil change on it yet, but I already know I'm going to build an oil drainage system for the mower, the drain and the filter are inside the frame rails with no clear access for a conventional drain pan. I will adjust, adapt and overcome. WHORA! All said and done, I would still buy this mower, just wish the deck was a mulcher. With out the mulching effect there is no reason for my custom built aerator. If TROY has a solution to the mulching problem I'd love to see it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Tractor, One Complaint The tractor mows very well, and fairly quickly. It pulls attachments decently to. My only complaint so far is the mower deck cleaning system doesn't work very well. I followed the directions exactly and there was still grass stuck to the deck when I was done. I ended up buying a power washer and cleaning it that way.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from poorly made and not reliable I purchased the Horse 46" model two years ago and have had nothing but problems with it ever since. The engine had an internal failure and it punched a hole in the block. Luckily I was able to have it covered under warranty. I have already had a couple of the springs break, the blade engagement had a problem? Not sure what it was but I had to have a repair tech fix it, which included replacing the cable. Two of the pulley's wore out prematurely. Often times it is extremely difficult to start. At one point I could not get it started and took it to my repair guy and he couldn't find anything wrong with it. We just had to keep trying to start it until if finally fired up and then it seemed fine. Most recently I had to have the carburetor replaced because it was just sputtering and dying. This was after it stopped running and I pulled the spark plug out and the electrode gap was completely closed as if something had hit it. I re-gapped it and it seems to be ok for now. I have to add oil to it every single time I use it. This for an engine that is only a year old, remember, it is a replacement engine, but it still burns oil like crazy. I bought this to replace the a mower that was smaller and at least 15 years old but I feel I should have just kept it and saved my money and the headaches. I take good care of everything I own. None of these issues are operator fault. It is just a complete piece of junk.
