head melted and was too expensive to replace..
Ran for 1 summer, starts well but the head heated up and distorted. Bought replacement parts but needed unforseen additional parts and, for the price, (1/2
of a new unit) decided to get another new trimmer...Another Brand!

wishing I'd returned it when I had the chance
Not happy with this product bought it because troy built I've heard has a good reputation and good products. It ran once before it stopped idling then took six months to finally get it in to get fixed had to have a recorded conversation with troy built before they would take it in at shop. don't have it back yet as it finally only went in for a fix today. We will see how long they take to have it fixed. Its not like you get a rental either so I've weed whacking thats not getting done right now. The shop I dropped it off to said they had four in the back with the same problem maybe they should recall it since the carbs screw up ..... not happy considering it only has two year warranty and I'm not positive it will run long after this fix with only a year left. We will see if it makes it through the last year or have to buy new I guess but won't be a troy built at this rate. Would not recommend this product. I take pride in my lawn and love maintaining it. I also have a lawn mower through them which I will be reviewing and its only been a month and the kill switch doesn't work so it runs til you pull the spark plug its also going in today.

Average at best
Had this trimmer for 4 years and still runs well. Only issues is that it eats up trimmer line like a bodybuilder eats chicken! Either it feeds the line too quickly or it wraps around the shaft under the guard. I have tried wrapping it tightly and loose and it doesn't seem to matter how it's wrapped. Be prepared to spend a lot on trimmer line!

Disappointed
I purchased this unit Yesterday to replace an older Only because of the attachments I own. I started using it this morning only to find the bump feed trimmer head eats the line so I switched to the speed lock head that came with it only to find the line does not stay in. I tried to find a way to contact the company via email (I live in the west so phoning is difficult because of the time change) but could not find an address.

screw head cover keeps falling off.
Works great and I really like it. This is my third year with this machine but this year the screw head cover that keeps the corroborator cover one fell off, so I ordered the whole set of parts because you don't sell just the screw and well the screw head fell off again. I"m not happy. I still like the machine which trims amazingly. Stan

BEST TRIMMER EVER
I bought this trimmer a number of years ago. I recently purchased the Cultivator and was not disappointed. This year the timmer was put to the test and passed with full marks. I just bought the blower, can't wait to use it. I wish I had all the attachments, it's the only machine you will ever need or want.

very disappointed
I bought this with the expectation that a gas trimmer would be superior to my electric trimmer, and avoid having extension cords in the way. I have had this trimmer for <2 years now, and it has run poorly from the beginning. It has been used less than 1 hour. In the first summer I had it it would not start, and a small engine repair shop quoted min $100 to fix it, so I parked it and used the electric. this year I decided to use google and troubleshoot the problem, and ended up replacing the ignition coil and carburator. Now the engine runs great... and onto the next problem. with the line spool. It was never supplied with the bump&feed spool as advertised on the website, and the speedlock line spool is awful. No matter how I load in the pre-cut line, the trimmer spits it within 20 seconds of cutting. Once the trimmer is running, it is quite powerful, but the time and effort to use it far exceeds any benefit. Every 10 feet of cutting I have to shut it off, pick up the line and reinstall it in the speedlock. I have tried multiple brand lines (more mone spent...), and different loading techniques and not success. I am thinking of scrapping it for parts and calling it quits.
