Rated 2 out of 5 by from serious trouble at 3 years The machine is sturdy and, when it's working properly, does a pretty good job with both branches and leaves if you learn how to feed it (slowly#. I'd be fine with it, but at three years it has taken a dive mechanically. Virtually impossible to start. Needed a new head gasket and pull starter replacement #cost of repair was a third of the cost of a new one), and then it started burning oil seriously, with billowing white clouds of smoke. I kept adding oil every half an hour, hoping to get the mulching done over the weekend before it snows, but the machine stopped, and now I fear the worst. Three years of only moderate use just isn't enough. The engine is not up to the task.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well Engineered/Built The CS 4325 is a beast. Ample power, not so heavy it can't be moved around by hand for short distances. Clearing the occasional jam is straightforward and easily accomplished. The engine takes some good arm strength to get started, mainly because the power train is fixed and when pulling the starter rope you are also moving all of the internal parts. Some sort of clutch mechanism would solve this, but the machine works just fine as it is. This thing produces excellent mulch, which saves on having to burn a lot of otherwise useless wood. I've got a lot of wood to clean up, and I fully expect the CS 4325 to see me through to the end.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not very Sturdy This machine works very well when it holds together, but I have had two of them fail on me. On the first one a hinge broke and a wheel fell off. After repairing those, one of the pins that holds the flail blades in came out in operation, and the unit pretty much self-distructed. It was only a month old so I got it replaced. The second unit lasted two months (probably because I wasn't using it very much) and then spit out a nut. This time I saw it and stopped before any major damage happened, but one of the same pins was about to come loose and another nut was ready to fall off. It seems to me this could be an excellent machine with just a little redesign.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worst purchase ever I am the unfortunate owner of this machine. I bought it new 3 years ago. I have have had approximately 20hours of total use. It has been meticulously maintained. The first time I tried to use it this year, I drained the oil and refilled with new engine oil. Because it had stood for the winter, I first turned the engine over several times before filling the fuel tank with fresh gasoline. The chipper started easily, ran for 2 minutes and then BLEW A CHUNK OF ALUMINUM out of the side of the ENGINE! It at least needs a NEW ENGINE - after 20 hours of use!!!!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from GREAT CHIPPER SHREDDER I BOUGHT MY FIRST TROY BILT CHIPPER OVER 16 YRS. AGO AND NOW NEED A LARGER UNIT SO LOOKED AT THIS MACHINE AND ANOTHER TOP BRAND, I WENT WITH TROY-BILT. I BOUGHT THE LARGER 3 INCH UNIT WITH A 250 CC ENGINE,IT FIRED UP ON THE SECOND PULL, IT NEVER BOGGED DOWN ONCE IF YOU FOLLOW THE OWNERS MANUAL YOU WILL HAVE NO PROBLEMS, I BOUGHT A ALLIGATOR LOPPER TO CUT THE CROOKED PIECES OUT AND THIS WILL CUT DOWN YOUR TIME QUITE A BIT. THIS MACHINE IS BUILT JUST AS GOOD AND SAME FEATURES AS THE MORE EXPENSIVE UNIT I WAS CONSIDERING. THE COLLECTION BAG IS HEAVY WHEN FULL BUT IS NICE AS THE MULCH DOES NOT GO ALL OVER THE GROUND. THE LARGER ENGINE PULLS THE BRANCHES IN VERY FAST AS IT HAS LOTS OF TORQUE, OVERALL I AM VERY PLEASED WITH THE PERFORMANCE OF THIS CHIPPER SHREDDER.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from HARD TO START This chipper/ shredder works great if you can get it started. I strained my wrist trying to start it. The unit needs an electric start or clutch to make starting easier. Because when starting the blades connected to the motor shaft are also turning when pulling on the starter rope.A lot of strength is needed to start this machine. My wife cannot start the thing. When this monster is running it will chew up anything you put in it as long as you follow the size requirements in the manual. The bag does not attach tightly to the chute, but it has never come off during use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Starts GREAT! Beast Chipper I bought this unit despite some not so favorable reviews. It has been a Great machine. Starts first time every time and chips with out stalling. have used it now for about 3 days continuous (9-10 hrs per day) and it has never failed to start nor has it ever jammed. For the folks having problems starting it after it gets hot, you are probably choking the motor and flooding it. do not choke on restart and it will start first pull even when hot. Great machine, heavy duty works great. I recommend using the discharge bag, otherwise you will blow a bare spot on the ground underneath the discharge chute.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from a a leaf and Digestor Have had this equipment for about a year. makes quick work of new and old branches. Great for yard clean up after a wind storm. Fall leaf work is really easy . Equipment shreds leaves into a fine mulch for composting. Not a fan of the bag though, except for minimal quantity of branches. i find it difficult to operate the clip to secure the bag to the discharge chute. A larger clip would make it easier to secure and release the clip. Branch chute will digest branches up to 3 For leaves I lay a board below the exhaust chute and blow leaves or chips into a tarp with the back of the tarp slightly raised then haul the tarp away Great piece of equipment!!
