Snow Thrower Maintenance Tips

Proper maintenance is key to maximizing the performance and lifespan of your Troy-Bilt snow blower. Follow these snow blower tips to help ensure that you're getting the most out of your machine. Before starting any snow blower or thrower maintenance, turn off all control levers and stop the engine. Wait until the auger/impeller comes to a complete stop. Disconnect the spark plug wire and ground it against the engine to prevent accidental starting.

As part of your snow blower maintenance, frequently check bolts and screws for proper tightness to keep the machine working. Visually inspect it for any damage. Don't change the engine governor setting. The governor controls the maximum safe operating speed of the engine. While operating snow thrower maintenance, check the shave plates and skid shoes for wear and damage. When it's time to replace them, make sure you use original equipment manufacturer parts. Using snow blower parts that don't meet the part specifications can compromise the safety and performance of your machine.

During routine snow blower maintenance, check control levers to verify they engage and disengage properly. Regulate them if necessary. Make sure safety and instruction labels are in place and clear. Observe proper disposal laws and regulations for gas, oil, etc. to protect the environment. Check the fuel line, tank, cap and fittings regularly for cracks or leaks. Replace if necessary. Don't crank the engine with the spark plug removed. Refer to the chart for the best and proper maintenance to maximize the performance and lifespan of your snow thrower parts.
