Rated 3 out of 5 by from Adjusting the right control lever I ordered this unit from Lowes, sight unseen. I first noticed that there is no hitch hook on the rear for my spreader or tractor. My biggest hassle is that the right and left control lever are not aligned. The levers should operate in tandem., moving on backward 2 inches and one forward 2 inches - should uniformly turn the unit. That is not the case. For example, in order to go straight you need to push the right control all the way down, and the left can be pushed slightly forward. You should press both forward (uniform amount) and the unit should go forward. I don't see anywhere in the owners manual to adjust these.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My time machine I love my Mustang mower. My 2010 birthday present to myself. It literally gave me so much more "other time" (in several ways). 1 It replaced a 42" conventional lawn tractor: slow and tedious. 2 I use the mulching accessory and it does a great job of re-feeding my lawn. 3 my teenage daughters almost fight to mow the 1/2 acre. So with minimal maintenance the mower has given me back oodles of leisure time that I would rather spend on other things. I can start mowing at the same time as my neighbor with a 42" tractor and similar sized lawn, finish, clean-up and watch him continue for another 45-60 minutes. AND with better results.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well designed ZTR Well thought out design that allows for easy adjustments and maintenance. The seat is comfortable for long mowing sessions. The clippings get scattered very evenly. At first the 'feature' of shutting down the blades when going into reverse seems unhandy, but it turns out that can be avoided by keeping one handle in neutral or slightly forward position, in short by using a little finesse. The Kohler engine and overall frame beefiness matches the JD commercial grade ZTRs I have used. The owner manual is a little light on specs and details (like what is the recommended tire pressure other that the max on the tire). Great product.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Cut corners The only zerk fittings are on the front rims which are difficult to access. No zerk fittings anywhere else on this mower to help increase the longevity of this machine. The shields over the pulleys are bolted tight over the deck making blowing and clearing the grass clippings a chore. The foot well is slick. The rubber chute is way too short any slight breeze blows the grass clippings back on the operator. Any oil on the rubber o ring on the dipstick allows the dipstick to push itself loose and bathe the left side of the engine bay with oil( no threads on the dipstick).

Rated 4 out of 5 by from It does the job When I looked for a good mower, I took the time and asked around, Its like that car or truck when you see the right one, well this was the one for me. Cut's the grass well has the power, very easy to use, and yeah it will climb a good hill, Maintenace is easy, the muffler is a bit loud now its 3 years old and kept outside covered, replaced the battery once. I like and enjoy this mower, I even cut the neighbors for free. On a 3 gallon tank I can do the yards almost three times. thats 2 1/2 acre field type lots. For the price this is a very good deal.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from You get what you pay for I didn't expect this mower to be perfect. It didn't take long to learn to use it. I really like how easy it is to use it. It doesn't give me that professional pattern look to my lawn (I didn't buy it for that). I almost run over my bushes when I go down an incline and try to turn at the same time. I'm getting better at it. I'm not crazy about not having a foot break. Going up hills are a cinch. Starting is a pain. Sometimes it takes a good 10 seconds to start. I like the even cutting and it saves me about an hour to mow my 1 acre yard and mowing around trees is much easier.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Zero Turn Lawn Mower I purchased this zero turn lawn mower about two months a go and I am extremely happy with it. I mow between 2-3 acres and it has cut my mowing time down to a fraction of what it used to be with my previous riding garden tractor. It is comfotable to ride and steer and I enjoy mowing again. I highly recommend the TroyBuilt brand.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from What a machine !! I am 72 years old & I am truly impressed by the Troy-Bilt Mustang 50 Zero-Turn Rider Mower. I love the high-back seat (I don't believe anyone else has one) & the riding position comfort. If you have never driven one, you'll truly need to practice -- That thing will turn on a dime & give you 9 cents change ! It is a real powerful work-horse, strongly built frame, easy to start, safely engineered, cuts close to trees/walls & a lot of Fun to operate (grass cutting is no longer a boring chore). It goes anywhere! Thanks -- you people built a good-un.
