| 1932 | Modern Tool & Die Co. is founded as a supplier to the local manufacturing community in Cleveland, Ohio. |

| 1933 | Sehl Engineering Ltd. (which will later become MTD Products Canada Ltd.) is founded in Kitchener, Ontario. |
|
|
| 1942 | MTD joined the war effort (WWII) with tool and die work for major U.S. manufacturers. |
|
|
| 1958 | MTD enters the lawn and garden power equipment business with the production of an 18" power rotary mower. |
|
|
| 1959 | MTD expands into manufacturing of lawn mowers, garden tractors. and other power equipment. |
|
|
| 1962 | MTD purchases Sehl Engineering Ltd. and MTD Canada is born. |
|
|
| 1975 | Yard-Man becomes part of the MTD brands of outdoor power equipment. |
|
|
| 1981 | Cub Cadet purchased from International Harvester and White Outdoor acquired. |

|
| 1992 | MTD Products Canada celebrates its 30th Anniversary and MTD Corporate celebrates its 60th Anniversary. |

| 2001 | Troy-Bilt and Bolens join the MTD brand family. |
|

| 2002 | MTD Canada celebrates its 40th anniversary, while MTD US celebrates its 70th anniversary. |

| 2003 | MTD enters into a partnership with McCulloch to distribute their products in North America. |
